About

Part of the studioTR By Hand is a fibre art and skin care product manufacturing/educational company.
We take raw fleece, wash, dye and card it to spin, felt and sometimes weave into items. We may also purchase fibres to use in spinning, dyeing and felting to save some time from the  labour intensive preparations of raw fleece. There are many excellent materials to use which are difficult for us to produce. We use mainly natural fibres such as wool, alpaca, silk, flax, cotton and rayon.  Wherever possible, we use naturally or organically produced supplies.

The skin care production involves mainly cold processed soap making with excursions into bath salts, fizzies, oils, and some salves and creams.

The education comes as a desire to pass on our knowledge of these traditional crafts and offering workshops, classes and educating our customers.

I would love to have some lessons in processing skin care products and also i having a background in art, I would like to see what you do. You never know there may be something new for me to learn. Please give me information and how much you charge.

    Answer to Sarah,
I would like you to be able to visit my studio to see what I do. I teach cold process soap making and make simple salves and other bath and beauty products. I use simple ingredients and do not use any made up bases. Probably limiting what I do, but that is what I want to do. My sessions generally run $50.00 and usually include all materials. I limit how large the items will be but students get a full batch of soap or two bath products, at least one full felting project.
If you, or anyone else is nearby, come and visit and we may be able to set up a class or at least a demonstration. I will be participating in the Columbia Basin Culture Tour on August 13/14 and the studio will definitely be open that weekend.
